MUSIC POLICY PBS is playlist-free with a diverse range of specialist programs covering hip hop to indie rock, world music and roots, to jazz and folk. Their independent, non-commercial focus aims to present new music which is underrepresented elsewhere. Weekly feature CDs and the Music Manager’s “Tipsheets” unearth new music for listeners and subscribers.
OTHER PROGRAMING Arts news, film and festival reviews and regular gig guides feature both on-air and via PBS’s extensive website.
REGULAR EVENTS Besides regularly promoting gigs in Melbourne, “Studio 5 Live” features a weekly set from both local bands and visiting international acts, recorded live in the PBS studios. The station hosts regular outdoor broadcasts, as well concert series like City Limits, Outer Limits, Outta Limits Regional and the Live & Archived Concert series. PBS also presents Live Music Week, the Radio Festival and the Festival of Song.
