Diverse, youth-oriented outlook with daily focuses on hip hop, Asian-pop, dance, punk, electro and rock/metal. Music content is chosen by on-air hosts, although regular listener-voted polls like SYN Sweet 16 are on rotation during flagship shows such as breakfast and their current affairs programs.
OTHER PROGRAMING
Youth current affairs program Panorama is syndicated nationally via the Community Radio Network. Other talk programs cover topics such as sex and relationships whilst a program for female listeners provides opportunities for in-depth discussions about everything from feminism to careers.
REGULAR EVENTS
There are regular outside broadcasts from Melbourne secondary schools featuring student bands and DJs. SYN FM also produces weekly youth content for community TV broadcaster Channel 31 (including animations, short films etc) and presents the “Word War One” MC battle competition featuring young hip hop talent alongside youth media training.
Utilising the BOINC open source software platform, the station is also involved in data collection for science projects covering topics like climate change, astrophysics and health.
